Why, How, and When to Collect Demographic Data

February 14, 2020 | News

Wendy Rosov and Valerie Feldman conducted a community workshop for leaders of Bay Area organizations on why, how, and when to collect demographic data from people they serve.

This work builds on the report, Deepening Our Understanding of East Bay Jewish Life, produced by the Rodan Family Foundation and Rosov Consulting. Among other learnings, the report showed that while the East Bay Jewish community is becoming increasingly diverse, fewer than 10 percent of local Jewish communal organizations are collecting information on race, accessibility needs, income/socioeconomic status, and sexuality from those they serve. The workshop was designed to help organizations better understand who they are reaching and how they can best serve, support, and include all members of the community.
