#throwbackthursday: Onward Israel – Report on Summer 2012 North American Cohorts

August 23, 2018 | News

As part of our ten-year anniversary celebration, we are participating in the popular social media trend “Throwback Thursday” by sharing a report from some of Rosov’s earliest work on our website and social media. In Rosov Consulting’s early days, sharing findings with the greater field was not a priority, so we are using this as a chance to “resurface” important research and analysis that we conducted that might not have received the audience it warranted.

This month for #throwbackthursday, we are sharing the 2012 report on that summer’s North American cohort of Onward Israel, commissioned by The Jewish Agency for Israel. This was Onward Israel’s pilot year, and the evaluation focused on some foundational elements of the program and the participants, including operational model and structure; program implementation; and participant outcomes.

As immersive experiences in Israel continue to be a focus for many funders and practitioners, it is informative to look back now at this report. Early learnings such as why participants join the program, expectations of what the program will provide, and the amount of structure vs. “free time” participants desire offer insight to anyone designing and/or implementing Israel experiences today.
