Whether it is determining strategic vision, consultation around evaluation design or clear thinking about the latest developments in the world of assessment and its use in the foundation arena, Rosov Consulting is an outstanding resource. Dr. Rosov has the ability to cut through a jargon filled environment and offer clarification on complex issues without being simplistic. In addition she is an excellent facilitator helping groups identify, define and implement their plans. The Covenant Foundation heartily endorses Rosov Consulting!

Our Services

Rosov Consulting offers customized, strategic consulting in three primary areas:

  • Successful Program Design
  • Research and Evaluation for Increased Effectiveness
  • Refinement of the Grantmaking Process

Our approach is based on deep knowledge of the field of philanthropy, a focus on impact, commitment to coaching in order to build capacity and skilled facilitation of critical conversations.

Successful Program Design:

Rosov Consulting helps both philanthropic and non profit clients design or redesign programmatic initiatives to meet their goals and achieve the desired impact.  With our support, clients will gain clarity on what will make a program or grant more effective before implementation begins or learn how to refine and improve a project once underway.

Through their work with Rosov Consulting, clients will explore:

  • The need, problem or challenge they wish to address
  • The desired impact
  • Results which are specific, measurable and attainable
  • Strategies likely to yield results
  • Critical resources for implementation

Facilitated conversations enable clients to identify the desired impact of their work and align goals with programmatic or funding initiatives. As a result of this process our clients will think more strategically about their work, and their role in the field.

Our program design or redesign process can be limited to a single project or extend to an entire program area or area of philanthropic focus.

Research and Evaluation for Increased Effectiveness:

Rosov Consulting helps philanthropic clients identify what they need to learn about their work to increase their impact. We will work closely with Foundation staff and trustees to enrich their understanding of and utilization of evaluation and research as part of effective grantmaking.

Philanthropy clients will establish clear priorities for when, how and why to engage an external evaluation professional, or require grantees to undertake systematic data collection.  Through this work, our clients build their internal capacity to make the best use of the findings that are generated through various forms of inquiry and data gathering.

We will gladly oversee a foundation’s research and evaluation from start to finish including:

  • Development of a research budget
  • Creation of a well designed RFP for external evaluation service providers
  • Identification of high quality evaluation service providers
  • Assessment of strengths, weaknesses, costs and “fit” of proposed evaluation or data collection strategies
  • Contracting with evaluation providers on behalf of the foundation
  • Monitoring the progress of studies underway
  • Assuring that reporting on findings has high utility and actionable results

Refinement of the Grantmaking Process:

Rosov Consulting brings philanthropists and program providers together to demystify and strengthen the grantmaking process.  Our staff will insure that the grant development and review process is structured to achieve maximum impact for both funders and grantees through:

  • Development of RFP’s and grant guidelines that will yield stronger proposals from grant applicants
  • Design of a grant application review process focused on program “logic,” design integrity and likelihood of success
  • Consultation with grant seekers on the grant writing process
  • Training workshops for grantees and potential grantees

Among the variety of workshops we offer are:

  • Introduction to Logic Models and Program Design
  • Introduction to Program Evaluation
  • Methodology and Practice of Program Evaluation
  • Elements of a Successful Grant Proposal

Rosov Consulting helps funders and grantees establish common language and identify shared goals to build a collaborative relationship and enhance impact.
